Individual Pre-purchase Counseling

Once you have attended our Homebuyer's Workshop we encourage you to attend one-on-one pre-purchase counseling. A certified housing and financial counselor will meet with you and help you develop an action plan that will facilitate your goal of homeownership. Pre-purchase counseling sessions may include the following information: selecting a lender and real estate agent, knowing your price range for a home and the best home choice for you, information about how to obtain down payment and closing costs assistance, getting a home inspection, and what to expect at a closing. Your counselor will assist you on working out credit issues and help you determine which mortgage is the best for you. Counselors will go over loan documents and explain all documents to you.

Individual Post-purchase Counseling

If you need more information about how you can be a more successful homeowner continue to attend post purchase counseling sessions with your counselor or attend post purchase classes that we offer. Post purchase counseling and education answers questions about how to develop a spending plan and stick with the plan, how to do routine home maintenance, how to save to handle repairs, and what options are available for refinancing. Counselors also discuss with homeowners how to avoid default and foreclosure. But more importantly, you are aware that if you run into complications that you can return to CCCS for help with any mortgage issues you might have.
